Is Severe Cough Harmful During 17 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
im 17 weeks pregnant with my second child. i had an emergency c section 6 years ago with y first son. i am now recovering from a chest infection, my scar is extremely painful when i cough. im so afraid its going to split. im terrified of coughing incase something awful happens. please help.

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion the cough will not affect the sutures of your past surgery.Infact all the tissues will be healed by now and there is no chance of giving way.The cough if present in the immediate post op period might lead to opening up of sutures.So relax.The cough syrup can be taken for soothening effect.If the cough is productive with altered sputum
then it suggests infection so need to be cleared.
