Is Severe Pain In Lower Back After Passing Stools Using Suppositories Normal?
Hi I have just had a posterior and anterior prolapse operation and am home after 5 days in hospital. I was given ansuppository to open the bowels in hospital and have just taken another today. on both occassions after emptying the bowel a little I have experienced terrible lower back pain.
As per our clinical experience, it is not the glycerine suppository that gives you back pain, but it is the passage of hard stools which gives pain. Additional intake of more liquids with high fiber diet, psyllium husk as per doctors advise will cover up the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
