Is Severe Pain In The Shoulders, Arms, And Whole Body Be A Side Effect Of Levofloxacin Taken For Resistant Bronchitis?
Hi. Been on Levofloxacin for 13 days now for resistant bronchitis, two times of Zpack before that--for 5+ days now, my shoulders, arms, whole body hurts--cannot put my arms behind my back, or lift my arms over my shoulders--do you think this is side effect of Levofloxacin? I thought I had the flu, my dr said no, it has not hit Mn yet. I m so tired of hurting like this!! One more of this med to take, then it s gone!
General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Yes, severe pain in the shoulders, arms, and the whole body can be a side effect of Levofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. This side effect is known as fluoroquinolone-associated tendinitis or tendon rupture, and it can affect any tendon in the body. It is important to report these symptoms to your doctor as soon as possible so that they can evaluate you and potentially adjust your medication regimen. If you experience any sudden onset of pain, swelling, or stiffness in your joints or muscles, you should seek medical attention right away.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
