Is Slight ST Depression In An ECG Report A Cause For Concern?

My daughter, 31, is 5 3 , 100 LBS AND EXERCISES DAILY. Her EKG last year showed a slight ST depression with no recommendation for any follow-up. She just had an EKG (routine) in December and the ST depression was negligible. Recommended having an echo. All else was normal. Any reason to be concerned?

Hi, a slight ST depression is NOT a cause for concern for a young 31 year old.

In this situation, I suggest my patients a exercise electrocardiography to confirm the goodness of this change. However, the conduct to wait a few months and repeat the exam is also right.

I believe the echocardiogram would serve to rule out a mitral valve prolapse as the cause of this change on the electrocardiogram.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help you.
