Is Slight Redness At The Back Of The Throat Wall Normal?
hello, I just wanted to see if my throat in general looks healthy? There haven’t been any changes but I also haven’t been to the doctor in awhile because of Covid season the last 2 years and I just want to make sure that the slight redness on the back wall on the left is normal inflammation from allergies or saliva build up and it’s nothing for concern. As well as the flesh colored spot on the top of the uvula almost at the soft palate.
Symptoms are indicative of infection. It can be a reaction to an allergy or injury. Gargle about 4 times in a day with lukewarm salt water. You can also use a Listerine mouth wash to maintain your oral hygiene. Take antihistamine at bedtime for 3-5 days. It should subside within 72 hours.
If it remains persistent than you should take a course of antibiotics like doxycycline-100 mg or Augmentin, whichever suits you better. Take sips of water throughout the day and do not skip meals, take semisolid food like oats so that you do not hurt the throat mucosa. In case of pain and discomfort, get swab and sputum test done. Take acetaminophen, one stat after food for relieve from pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
