Brown spotting could be a discharge of old and retained blood. It might be an indication that bleeding could happen shortly. Kindly wait for bleeding to happen. If it doesn't happen by 10 days, kindly take urine pregnancy test and consult Obstetrician with the result for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician

Is Spotting Normal After Taking An I-pill?
Hi, I-pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. The pill would prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse by causing breakthrough bleeding. Bleeding happens just like periods by 5 to 7 days following the pill intake. Brown spotting could be a discharge of old and retained blood. It might be an indication that bleeding could happen shortly. Kindly wait for bleeding to happen. If it doesn t happen by 10 days, kindly take urine pregnancy test and consult Obstetrician with the result for clinical evaluation and appropriate management. Hope I have answered your query.
