Is Spotting Normal During 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

i received my ultrasound result. i am 5 weeks pregnant. the reason why my OB requested me for ultrasound is that i have spotting for 2 days..the doctor ask me if am really pregnant since she cannot see any sac, instead asked me to repeat the ultrasound after a week and observe the spotting..is it normal to have spotting on the 5th week of pregnancy? and on what week will the sac be seen on the ultrasound?thanks

Hi, thanks for using HCM..
Was there any passage of clots?Is preg test positive? There is something called implantation bleed which occurs around 4-5 weeks during which implantation occurs.. By scan gestational sac appears by 5 weeks with a yolk sac..By 6 weeks fetal pole and cardiac activity appears. Get a hcg done to assess your period of gestation.. Sometimes it can be a delayed conception. hcg value greater than 1500IU identifies the gestational sac by transvaginal scan. If hcg is below 1500 get a repeat hcg after 48 hrs to see for doubling which indicates healthy pregnancy. If there is increase but no doubling, we need to rule out ectopic pregnancy. If doubling time is present rpt scan after 2 weeks to see for gestational sac. In case any symptoms occurs consult your gynae.. Hope u have answered your queries. Good day..
