Hello and welcome,

I understand your issue well.

Your fibroid is big and unlikely to resolve by itself. It is already causing symptoms and like heavy bleeding that has caused anemia and also feeling of bloating.

So it is best to get it removed so that your will enjoy better health. Please do not worry so much about the surgery. These are not unusual and surgery helps to cure the symptoms.

Hope this satisfies your query.

OBGYN Dr. Nishikant Shrotri's  Response
Hallow Dear,

Fibroids may give you pains only during menstruation.

A fibroid of 14 cm size is a sizable fibroid and needs surgical removal at this age. There is likelihood of having few more fibroids or the seedlings of fibroids in the uterus which will be revealed during surgery also. If you leave it like that, there are possibilities of various degenerations of fibroid which includes sarcomatous (cancerous) degeneration in future.

The bloating is due to the size of the fibroid filling the abdominal cavity.

You are too anaemic to undergo any major surgery. Please get some blood transfused before surgery to get fit for surgery. You are bleeding profusely during menses. So building up blood by medicines will not be possible.

At this age, I would suggest you undergo removal of the uterus with the tumour(s). The ovaries may be left back. Please get the surgery done at the earliest to avoid further blood loss.

I hope this helps you.
