Is Surgery The Right Method Of Treatment For Severe Knee Pain?

I have acute Knee pain since last few days. I have previous knee X-ray and it shows that on my inside of right knee is nearly bane to bone, my miniscus maybe partly torn now! I have been very active with Golf etc.. but now I find it hard to walk. You feel I need surgery. I hope I can manage some more time without surgery but last few days I notice that each time I get up from a Chair the pain is intense but after walking a few steps - it gets better, but not pain free, please advise

Spine Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In cases of meniscal injury or ligamentous injury, first, we give a conservative trial for 6 weeks. If no improvement then we go for surgery.

You should first do quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises daily half an hour twice a day.

Try it for 6 weeks and if no improvement then the other option would be surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anuj Gupta,
