Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In 1996 my son swallowed mercury from a thermometer when he bit it instead of holding it in his mouth. I called the poison control center immediately to get advice, and they said that mercury from a thermometer was not harmful. But now I'm wondering whether I was given correct advice. Can you either confirm or deny that mercury from a thermometer swallowed by a baby who was just getting his first teetth was, in fact, harmless?
HI Well come to HCM Mercury is metal and this included in poison least concern where this is being used even used in thermometers, but of course the quantity is matters, thermometers have very little quantity of mercury and if swollen by mistake this would cause no harm, hope this helps.
