Is Sweating Normal While Having Diarrhea And On Drip?
My 24 year old son has had diarhea for 24 hours and no sign of stopping. He works in Zambia and other African countries, and ate shell fish and sea food 2 days ago, also has a high fever 39C.
Her just sms me to say he is in a clinic in Zambia on a drip and sweating a lot.Is this serious? Will he be okay now he has been admited to the clinic?
I had gone through your question I can understand your son GI upset.
As per your history and sings and symptoms, it seems to me he may be suffering with Gastritis or food poisoning. As you said he has associated fever and diarrhea, it most likely is infectious one.
You don't need to worry, in every patient with loss of fluids, drip is first line treatment. As you said it is getting normal, so it seems he had a food poisoning episode which usually gets over within 24 to 48 hours.
In case he has bacterial, he will be prescribed antibiotics and there is nothing to worry.
Hope my answer will help you and visit us back if you have any further questions to be answered.
Regards Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
