Hello. Thanks for asking form HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is good that your son is having mild type of
head injury.
The swollen area at injury site is normal. It is formed due to collection of blood and reactionary fluid between skin layers after injury. It is usually painfully and changes colour from red to black and then brown to normal. It will subside on its own in 10-14 days.
You can fasten relief by following few tips
: Apply icepacks at injury site
: You can ask him to keep his head at higher level than chest.
: You can give him painkiller syrup like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription. It also decreases swelling.
: If still no relief, you can take him to ER. The doctor will examine it and explain it to you.
Sometimes swelling may persist even after 14 days or increase in size, then you must
consult doctor to rule out persistent
hematoma or pus collection.
Hope it will help you. Thanks
