Is Swollen Lower Abdomen Normal Post Surgical Abortion?
hello, i had a surgical termination of pregnancy on tuesday morning.. i realise it is only friday afternoon (based in NZ) but i was wondering weather the swollen lower abdomen is a normal reactiction? it is literally 3 times the size of what i am used to with my body.
There is no reason for the lower abdomen to get distended after an uneventful surgical abortion. If the lower abdomen is getting distended, which as you have mentioned about 3 times your pre-abortion state, you need to report to the Gynaecologist ASAP. It may be due to either infection in the peritoneal cavity or bleeding in the peritoneal cavity due to any perforation by some instrument. In such events, you will not pass the bowels or the gases and will feel bloated. You would have pain in abdomen. You may have high fever also.
You will require some antibiotics and/or surgical exploration of the abdomen. Please rush to the Gynaecologist.
I hope you get the message.
