Hello Dr! I had unprotected sex with an HIV+ undetectable person about 45 days ago. Tested neg for HIV but positive for syphilis. Is it possible that the syphilis positive is probably a sign that I got HIV too but the tests are not able to detect yet?
dear user first i would like to tell you that there is relationship between syphylis and hiv but not as you understand..........syphylis may acquired easly for hiv diagnosed patients as they have impaired immunity and susciptible to multiple infections one of them is syphylis but in your case this relation doesnot exist as syphylis infection not indicative of hiv infection .....syphylis infection refer to that you have unprotected sex with infected person with bacteria of syphylis...then the bacteria transmitted to you by sexual contact.......so no one can say that you have hiv infection because you get syphlis infection.....your worry about hiv is good behaviour from you and it was good to do the investigative tests for that....if you did antibodies test and pcr test and the result is negative it means that you are not infected with hiv........sincerely you are free of hiv and neednot to worry about that as it will get you stressed ....follow up treatment of syphylis and get worry out of hiv......wish you healthy life
