Is Taking Glimisave M1 Forte Safe For Diabetes Treatment?
Hi Dr. Shankdhar, My mother is a diabetic since last 12 years. Recently her sugar level was not getting controlled & after consulting a new doctor he adviced to switch from Glycomet to Glimisave m1 forte. I am just a bit apprehensive & would like to know if Glimisave m1 forte is a very strong medicine or is it ok to take it daily?
Dear Patient thanks for contacting HCM. Glycomet tab which your mom was taking is a mild drug and safe too. your mother did well to maintain sugar levels with glycomet for 12 years. Its obvious that after such long time glycomet alone is not able to control her sugar levels, and thats why your doctor advised your mom glimsave m1forte which has same drug as glycomet in combination of glimpride. It is Ok to take it daily, though whenever a drug is changed or added you may need to monitor blood sugar levels for a few days. Glimpride has a greater potential for causing hypoglycaemia( low blood sugar) than glycomet alone, so make sure your mother never misses a meal. Also please do not forget that main stay of diabetes treatment is Diet change and exercise and drugs have a supportive role. regards
