Hello,

I can understand your concern. If you have had unprotected sexual intercourae with your girlfriend, it is always advisable to take an i pill within 24 hours of the intercourse, preferably and as late as 72 hours. Later than 72 hours may not give the desired effects.

I pill helps in preventing pregnancy by changing hormonal levels and there aresome side effects like gastric discomfort, sore breasts, lower abdominal pain, changed menstrual cycle etc. but none is too severe to avoid taking it.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
