Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello doctor , am anju, i am now 4 weeks pregnant and i am severe allergic to protien and citrus foods.i have allergic sinusitis ,i use to take L-MONTUS when i get allergy can i continue with the same tablet and is there any proplem in taking this tablet during my pregnancy?
Welcome to HCM and thank you for your query. Most of the studies done with montelukast in pregnancy is in people with asthma. Cumulative data, including a recent Motherisk study, are very reassuring regarding the use of this drug to treat pregnant patients with asthma. Exposure to montelukast during pregnancy does not appear to increase the risk of major malformations above the 1% to 3% baseline in the general population
If your allergic symptoms do not respond to local sprays, you have to make the decision regarding using L Montus in the light of the evidence available.
I shall be happy to answer if you have further queries. Take Care, Dr Noble Zachariah, Kuwait
