Is Taking Metformin Safe During Pregnancy?

We have been trying to conceive, Today I came to know her pregnancy is Positive, he had a miscarriage n D& C earlier, & Her docter in India had advise her Fertyl 5000 injection when she conceived, But here s.he is prescribed Duphaston, Folic Acid ,metformin hcl -500mg tablets. we are confused when we called her doc in india she asked us to stop metaformin but take vitamin e tablets, my wife has PCOD

I have gone through your question and I understood your problem.
Metformin is a category B drug in pregnancy.
Category B consists of following
B:May be acceptable. Either animal studies show no risk but human studies not available or animal studies showed minor risks and human studies done and showed no risk.
So I will suggest you to consult with your obstetrician and discuss tbout the rational use of metformin.Thank you.
