Is Taking Potassium Of 10 Mg Dangerous Along With Normal Diet?

My doctor said lab test showed low potassium, I have been tired and not feeling well. she has put me on 10mg of supplements twice a day. Is that safe? will I be in danger of having to much potassium with a normal diet and the supplements. My level was 3.2 this time and 3.3 last time.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Normal plasma potassium levels are between 3.5 to 5.0 mEq/L.
Mild hypokalemia (>3.0 mEq/L) may be treated with oral potassium chloride supplements.
Dosage-ADULTS: PO 20 to 100 mEq in divided doses.
The Adequate Intake (AI) for potassium is 4,700 milligrams/day for males and females ages fourteen through adulthood.Since your potassium level still remains below 3.5 and above 3, you need to continue potassium supplement with your normal diet.
