Is Taking RX Cause Side Effects In 92 Year Old Female?
my 92 yr old mother has been given this drug (5mg( because her BP is elevated.. She has not taken any RX on a regular basis.. She has been prescribed BP meds in the past and has had severe reactions to them and stopped them. She vomits and cannot function. she has history of stomach issues and had heart problems many yrs ago. She lives by herself and does almost everything herself. I am very concerned with her taking any RXs because of her bad reactions. what are your views on this?
Hi, Elevated Blood pressure in any age is a very serious issue and particularly in the elderly can lead to serious complications like increased risk of stroke, cardiac diseases, vision loss or even aneurysms. Other factors do contribute including diabetes, or renal failure can also contribute to increased complications. There are numerous Blood pressure medications and not every drug could have a bad reaction. However, watch out for any side effects and discuss it with your doctor Along with medication, life style modification can also be helpful like low salt, nutritional diet, avoid alcohol/ smoking and also managing stress. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further queries, happy to help again.
