Hi, I have gone through your question.Sodium valproate is not completely safe in first trimester of pregnancy. There is a high risk of neural tube defects, cardiac defects and cleft lip and palate in the foetus, when there is intake of valproate in first trimester. I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that you can get an ultrasound done now and again at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy so that these anomalies in the foetus can be ruled out. You should continue taking folic acid as advised and do not stop taking valproate, as your seizures are prevented by this drug. Pain and itching in vagina may be due to vaginal infection. I suggest you to get your vaginal swab examined and get proper treatment. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health.
