Is Taking Injection To Mature Baby Lungs Safe During Pregnancy?

hi ! i'm 28 weeks pregnant and i have been having high blood pressure but i'm not taking any high blood pressure medication. yesterday i was injected with a medication that will make my baby lungs faster and they told me its just a precaution if i have to be induce before the 40 weeks .the baby soo far is developing right is this safe ? does it have any side defects ? for the baby

Brief answer: Considered Safe and necessary during certain conditions in mother or fetus
Detailed answer: According to me,since you may require induced preterm labor because of the risk of blood pressure related complications,your treating doctor could have administered corticosteroid injection as a precaution to enhance fetal lung maturity.In my opinion,benefits outweigh the risks which are very low with single or two courses of steroid injection.However,multiple courses of steroids should be avoided which may cause significant effects like respiratory depression,infections in neonate.Hope this information helps you.If any questions,happy to answer you.Take care.
