Is Taking Mesporin Injection Safe?

My daughter is aged 6.6 years and she had severe fever and cough in the last few days. Doctor recommended to give anti-biotic and even after the use of antibiotic it did not go away. Then doctor recommended to give mesporin 1gm Injection. This injection was given once daily for two days. Do you think that is right prescription? What is Mesporin and what it is used for?

Hi..if the cough or cold and fever is not responding to one oral antibiotic then we can switch to another one after waiting for the response for 48 hours. Also along with that we should use paracetamol thrice a day for fever. If there is no response we can use metal/ibuprofen.cough takes longer time to subside almost a week. So I don't agree with giving injectable treatment so early. It is advised only if the child is having persistent high grade fever, cough and respiratory distress inspite of oral antibiotic and local measures. The injection given is ceftriaxone and it belongs to 3rd generation cephalosporin which is broad spectrum antibiotic.
