Hi,

It may be taken for a short duration. Qlaira is a combined oral contraceptive pill may cause small amount of weight gain as its one of the common side effects.

There may be an increased risk of thromboembolic disease in obese women on prolonged use.

So, I suggest you to use progesterone-only pills or depot medroxypro-gesterone acetate if you are planning for a prolonged birth control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
