Is Taking Stilpane Tablets Harmful For The Baby When Pregnant?
About two weeks pregnant,I had a laparascopy done four days ago becaouse my doctor could not see the baby in the uterus and thought it could be ectopic bt all is well now.she gave me stilpane to take for the pain and cyclogest.I take 2 stilpane tablets three times a day for the pain is it safe won't that harm my baby?and I also struggle to do no 2 in the toilet is that also not harmful?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Stilpane contains paracetamol, codeine, caffeine, meprobamate etc. Better to use plain paracetamol instead of stilpane. Paracetamol belongs to category B drugs in pregnancy according to FDA. So, there may not be any major effects on baby. Progesterone is the predominant hormone in pregnancy. That decreases the gut motility. Because of this some amount of constipation is common in pregnancy. You have to take plenty of water, vegetables and fruits. If problem persists go for laxatives with your doctor's advice. Take care.
