Is The Bleeding I Started After Taking An Emergency Contraceptive Pill Implantation Bleeding Or Withdrawal Bleeding?

My last period is on 23rd October. I had intercourse on 1st November and took an emergency contraceptive pill right after that. Yesterday (8th november)  bleeding started and the flow is light and it s still going on(9th November). This bleeding started on 15th day of my menstrual cycle. Is it implantation bleeding or withdrawal bleeding? What should i do please guide me up.

Hello,

Since your bleeding started on Nov 8 (7 days after taking the pill), this strongly suggests withdrawal bleeding. Implantation bleeding happens 6-12 days after ovulation (not right after taking the pill). It is usually very light spotting, not continuous bleeding. Since you took the pill immediately after intercourse, it would have prevented ovulation or fertilization in the first place, making implantation unlikely.

Withdrawal bleeding usually lasts a few days to a week. Your next period might come earlier, later, or be irregular due to the emergency pill you took. Take a pregnancy test if your period doesn’t come by late November, just for reassurance. If required, you can get clinically examined by an Obs-Gynae.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
