Is The Change In Voice Of A 7 Year Old Boy Normal?
Hello, Doctor. Voice of my son aged 7 years sounding hoarse/husky since few months. He was having bronchitis proplem. However for last 1.5 years he has not got any attack. please let me know whether this change in voice is normal or we need to consult doctor.
I went through your details. The larynx, which is located in the throat, plays the major role in creating the sound of the voice. Everyone's timetable is different, so some boys' voices might start to change earlier and some might start a little later. A boy's voice typically begins to change between ages 11 and 14½, usually just after the major growth spurt. Some boys' voices might change gradually, whereas others' might change quickly.
Therefore, your child's present hoarseness may not be attributable to growth. Could be related to some sort of vocal chord or larynx problem. Consult child specialist for investigation and more insight.
