Is The Ear Wax Blockage Removing Procedure Painful?
Hello, I am twenty-three and weight 46 kilos for 1m50. I took the plane twice in a week and I suppose I must have had too much ear wax in my right here and the changes in pressure helped in forming an ear wax blockage. It hurts when I chew and I ve had difficulties hearing since the last flight (three days). I went to the hospital and I ve got a prescription for ear drops. My question is if I need to see a specialist, will he let me request general or local anesthesia and is the procedure without, painful?
Hi Thanks for your query. Since your question pertains to the painful ear with wax and blockage, it is painful to remove was from the ear which is inflamed and full of wax. You will need a general anesthesia if you want the wax to be removed urgently. Otherwise I would advise you the following: Consult an ENT surgeon for clinical evaluation, to find the cause of blockage and pain, whether due o the was or due to TM joint arthralgia with resultant edema. Get a course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines for the edema to be reduced so that there will be a place to put a scoop in to extract the wax with minimal or no pain at all. You will also be examined for nose and throat for any reasons contributing for the problems you have and treated accordingly.
