Is The Folic Acid Dosage Correct?

Hello Doc. i have just recently found out im pregnant, im seeing my gynae only in 2 weeks time. i have been taking folic acid for a while now, the 5mg. i wish to find out if this is enough when pregnant before i meet with my gynae in 2 weeks. thanks

Brief Answer: Yes,enough.
Detailed answer: If i was your treating doctor,would have also prescribed with folic acid tablet 4-5mg once daily if you were trying to get pregnant(mainly 3 months prior to pregnancy and for initial few weeks) for avoiding any possible risk of fetal developmental defects.Clinicians usually see better results with increased folic acid supplement 4 to 5 mg daily.I believe,you can continue the same till you meet your gynecologist.
