hi i am 29 weeks pregnant. and my scan shows this report bpd 80 mm hc 283mm ac 264 mm fl 56 mm estimated fetal weight 1,579 g centile 97.1 presentation cephalic placenta posterior amniotic fluid index 20.8 cm diabetic on metformin please tell me what is the abnormality and what precautions should i take
The scan is OK except for the amniotic fluid which is the fluid surrounding the baby. It is high. Values above 15 are rare and 20.8 is a bit on the higher side. This may be due to diabetes or any issue in the baby. So it is better to get a HBA1c tested as it reflects blood sugar control over a period of last 3 months as well as a 4D ultrasound scan to look for fetal well being.
If these are normal then there is no need to worry. Just keep on checking your sugar levels and keep them under control and you will be fine.
