Is There A Chance Of An Ectopic Pregnancy If There Is No Sac In Uterus?
Hello Doctor,
I am 5weeks pregnant but doctors are confused as to it is ectopic but they are not sure as my HCG count has doubled in past 2days. But my scanning report shows no sack in the uterus. I have been suggested to undergo another scanning again after 2days. is there any chances of me having normal pregnancy or will i need to terminate it? it is my first pregnancy and i dont want to terminate it. Kindly suggest
Sometimes 5 weeks is too early for a scan. So sac may not be visible. If the HCG is doubling in 48 hours it is more likely to be a intrauterine pregnancy. It does not double in ectopic. Also check if you have symptoms like one sided abdominal pain [ more common with ectopic].
It is more likely to be inside the uterus. Just check after 2 days [ or if there are no symptoms may wait for 4-5 days also]. If it turns out to be an ectopic then there is no other option but termination.
Do not worry, the HCG suggests an intrauterine and if no sac was inside the uterus, none was seen outside it also. So be positive and a sac will show up in the next scan. Take care.
