Is There Any Medication To Relieve Night Sweats When Suffering From Pulmonary Hypertension?

my 87 year old mother has pulmonary hypertension. she also takes warfarin to thin her blood. The main problem she is struggling with is the night sweats, she needs to change 3-4 times a night as she gets completely drenched. Is there any medication that can help with this?

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The most important issue is to determine what is the cause of the night sweats... An infection? A hormonal problem? A side effect from a medication? If a specific underlying cause is found, perhaps it can be treated. Hopefully, she is being followed by a pulmonary hypertension specialist; he would be able to determine based on her medical therapies for pulmonary hypertension if this is due to a side effect of a prescribed vasoactive medication.

Hope that helps, wish you the best,
