Is There Any Need Of Increasing Eltroxin Dose During Pregnancy?
I have a patient 35 wks ANC ,kn hypothyroid on eltroxin-62.5 OD.Her weight is 102kg, her pregnancy is fairing well except for oligohydramnios and we are treating her by giving cap-Alamin forte and ARG-9 satchet. Yesterday I got her thyroid pro-- free T4-12.36 previously 14.82 TSH -4.92 previously 4.57 Is there any need of increasing the dose of Eltroxin at this level of pregnancy. I am an MBBS doctor .
The levels of thyroid fluctuate during pregnancy. Even in our daily lives the levels are not constant throughout the day and fluctuate within a range. This is normal. However when they go outside the range then treatment is needed.
So these levels are Ok according to me. But usually the labs that test the levels provide reference ranges for comparison. The reference ranges are different for different labs. If the TSH and T4 is within the reference range for that lab then no change in dose is needed.
