Is There Any Problem In Removing The Thyroid Gland?
I am 30-years-old (62 kg, 5'4 height) married woman, taking eltroxin tablet from the past 9 years. But still there is visible bulging in my throat. Recently my doctor suggested me to remove the thyroid gland. I just want to know is there any problem in that?
There is no problem of removing a thyroid gland when you have thyroid disease and a visible bulding in the throat.Goiters are often removed because of cosmetic reasons . The only treatement you will need after the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland , is Eltroxin(your actual medication.)
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wish you good health. Dr Elona
