Dear sir , Advicing an individual to control his blood pressure depends upon the level of hypertension the individual has. There is a stage called prehypertension where one is adviced to keep a check on his blood pressure without depending on any drugs.
Slightly elevated blood pressure is known as prehypertension. Prehypertension will likely turn into high blood pressure (hypertension) if you don't make lifestyle changes, such as start exercising and eating healthier. Both prehypertension and high blood pressure increase your risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure.
here are the most accepted categories of hypertension
While your reluctance to take medicines is understandable, please remember that the topmost priority is to get the BP under control. Uncontrolled BP can produce permanent damage to the heart, kidneys, brain and eye. Keeping the BP under control 24 x7 is the only way to prevent damage. While all the lifestyle measures are important and useful, studies have shown that, invariably, one or two or sometimes 3 or 4 medicines are needed by the majority of hypertensive patients to keep the BP under satisfactory control.
PLEASE REMEMBER, KEEPING THE BP BELOW 135/85 MM HG IS THE IMPORTANT THING, WHETHER IT IS BY LIFESTYLE MEASURES, DIET, EXERCISE OR DRUGS......
