Hi Dr. Grief, My mother is 89 years old and has started taking Lyrica for tingling and numbness in her legs. She has taken the medicine for about 4-5 days and her attituide has become very aggressive verbally towards me. She is picking fights with me and I cannot talk with her about it. She is bringing up things that she think happened over 40 years ago stating I have hurt her feelings. She will not allow me to talk with her to determine what the problem is. I a very concerned!!!
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic! Yes, there are a few potential side effects of Lyrica and behavioral change is one of them. Other possible side effects include anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or feeling impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself. I'd suggest you to immediately visit a doctor and tell him about the changes in her behavior. She might need a change of drug. I hope I've answered your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
Regards, Dr. Sridhar Reddy
