about a year ago i lost my sense of taste after a uri now i only taste very few foods mostly condiments and my smell is distorted i havent had any uri in a year but my taste has not come back i haven 't gone to the doctor be cause i read there is really not much they can do i am a 61 year old female diabetic that takes 1000 mg metformin is there any hope of getting my taste back
HI Thank for asking to HCM The test of yours will be come again without any specific treatment, you have to have balance diet till then if it does not come back then antihistamine can be tried, second generation Levocetirizine 10 mg twice in day gives good result even if it does not revert then steroid should be tried, but before taking this you need to have word with doctor, but I am sure this will come around without the need of steroid, take care and have nice day.
