Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey I am almost 19 years old and i am 166 cm hight, In the past 2 and half years i seemed to stop growing as i have not added any hight ! it seems like my body stopped growing when i was around the age 16. Is there any way that there is something wrong in my body preventing me from growing ? is it possible to somehow add few more cm ? Thanks
if you haven't suffered any disease that impairs growth - you haven't mentioned any - then it's most likely that this will be your height. You haven't mentioned your sec either. Since 166cm is good for women, I suppose you're a man. Men are supposed to have growing potential until their 24th year of age but most men develop their full height around 16-18. Unless you've got other symptoms that point to a hormonal disorder, this would probably be your final height. If no disorder caused this, then you shouldn't try to do anything about it. It is possible that your bones have entered the 'adult' phase which means that there's no more growing potential. Besides that the only way to increase you height would be hormonal supplementation, which would be dangerous for your health if you don't have hormonal insufficiency. If you do have symptoms then you should visit an endocrinology specialist who will investigate potential causes. I hope things are clear now! If you have further questions, please ask again and I'll be glad to provide them for you.
Kind Regards!
