Is Tinnitus A Sign Of Hearing Loss After Prolonged Exposure To Loud Sounds?

My husband has always worked where it is very loud. He has started to have some ringing in his ears and was wanting to see what the best over the counter medication would be and could that be one of the first signs of hearing loss? Thank you so much!

Hi,

The underlying cause for tinnitus should be searched like impacted wax, hypertension, otitis media, noise-induced hearing loss etc. For that, I suggest you measure your blood pressure and Otoscopy ear examination. Pure tone audiometry also advisable to check hearing loss.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
