Is Traces Of Blood In Recurred Cough After Being Treated For Tonsilitis Normal?
Hi I was admitted into hospital on Sunday night with severe tonsilitis. I was discharged on Tuesday tea time and was given liquid form penicillin for 8 days. Yesterday I started coughing up traces of blood in my muscus not all the time. This morning I have just started coughing and again traces of blood are showing. Is this normal please. Thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms coughing up traces of blood when under treatment for tonsillitis is not a serious finding as blood is occurring due to inflammation in tonsils and when you cough there is rupture of a small premature blood vessel which are present in abundance in any inflamed area and it is the reason for blood in spit..
Nothing to worry, take the prescribed medication on time and along with it do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. Take throat lozenge every 4 to 5 hours. It will help in soothing the throat and reducing inflammation.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
