Is Travel Safe During Pregnancy?

Dear Doctor,
I wife have due date on 8th Dec. 2011. Right now every thing is ok. this second pregnacy. I birth was of boy on 28th Aug. 2006 with cigerian operation due to placenta problem.
I want to ask that can she travelling by train (AC) from mumbai to Patna on 1st Dec. 2011

Hi,
I understand your query.
Actually travel ling long distance by any vehicle is contraindicated in 9th month of pregnancy- for fear of starting labor pains & cause inconvenience / complications in child birth. A pregnant lady should travel in early 8 months if recommended by treating doctor. & she should reach the place of delivery before she starts 9th month.
So, your wife can not travel from Bombay to Patna on 1st December,while her expected date of delivery is 8th of December.Though her 1st delivery was by LSCS, she may start labor pains in travel,so it's better to reach the Patna before 9th month starts/ she should plan delivery in Bombay itself.
