Is Twitching Sensation On The Face And Neck A Matter Of Concern?
Our 20 year old son has son very noticeable facial, neck and abdominal tics. They started about age 17-18. Should we be worried? They don t seem to bother him but he doesn t want to talk about them either. He has some issues with reading social cues and participating in shared conversations with others. Any advise?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A facial tic is an involuntary, uncontrolled spasm in the facial muscles. The tic is unwanted and generally occurs regularly enough to be a nuisance to the person who experiences it. Again divided into transient tic disorder or chronic motor tic disorder or Tourette Syndrome. Treated with alpha-adrenergic agonists, neuroleptic drugs, and dopamine blockers. Injection of Botox may useful, stress reduction psychotic therapy may useful. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
