Is Unusual Itching Around An Old Surgical Scar A Concern?

Hey I have a question about something that occurred this morning, I woke up and a couple hours later an old scar of mine starting itching badly. The scar is from a surgery I had on my wrist 6 years ago, now the scar is completely covered in pus kinda like a big blister I haven t popped it but I put some alcohol on it and that relieved some of the irritation. Is this a serious issue and should I go to my doctor?

Hi.
As per your case history you are infection at scar site.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
