Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Metropol succer for quite a few years. The cost has increased so much I had my doctor change it to Metropol Tarte .. I just finish reading reviews and am not liking what I read. Especially one factor is weight gain. bad dreams, anxious feelings, being cold. Do you think its wise to try this new medication out?
Hi, As you are already taking metoprolol succinate fro some time, changing it to met tartrate is NOT going to have significant side effects which you previously did not have. Met succinate is long acting and tartarate is fat and short acting. you may need twice a day dose of tartarate to get the same effect, which will be titrated by your doctor. weight gain, bad dreams, anxious feelings, being cold etc are their side effects; if you hadn't had them earlier (with succinate), you wouldn't have them now (with tartarate). hope this helped.
