Is Vaginal Drainage Of A Tumor Possible In An Elderly Person?

My mom is 82 years old and has been bleeding from the the vagina for 6 days and been taken to the emergency 3 days in a row. They wanted a urine sample and placed a catch bowl over the toilet and a tumor as large as my fist came out. None of the hospital staff has ever known this to happen including a doctor practicing for over 30 years. How rare is this and what in the heck is happening?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

History not good but possible causes are polyp that protruding through vagina or uterine prolapse or malignancy that may originating from vulva etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. She may need examination and biopsy of the mass and treatment accordingly. Please consult your gynecologist/oncologist they will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
