OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine, Dr. Swati Varma's Response
Hi..congratulations on your pregnancy first..vomiting as such is normal during first trimester i.e the first 3 months of pregnancy..you can take tab doxinate 2 tablets at bedtime to get rid of it..in addition take plenty of fluids in your diet to avoid dehydration and a ginger candy would also help with your symptoms. Sometimes forceful vomiting act may cause mucosal injury and hence bleeding. In any circumstances if you find that your vomiting is intractable and doesn't respond to medications,or this bleeding during vomit repeats , you should rush to a hospital for inpatient treatment ( iv fluids transfusion and electrolyte maintenance).. I would also advise an obstetric scan to look for the number, viability and other parameters of your pregnancy. Don't worry, weight gain is more relevant from third month onwards..
