Itchiness Behind Lower Head Before Hairline Ends, Sometimes Bleeds. What Is It?

Its winter here in chicago and ive noticed the back of my lower gead before the hairline ends is itchy and red. As i would itch, peels of crusty deadskin would peel. Sometimes it will also bleed. I noticed it has dents. It is now darker and the itchiness hasnt gone away. I fear it will spread to my neck and other parts of ny body. What is it?! Thank you!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. Seems you have seborrheic dermatitis of scalp since the signs and symptoms you describe erythema, itching, scaling, crusting and the site of distribution are all classical of it.
Another possibility i would like to keep is Scalp psoriasis.

I would advice that you visit a dermatologist who would prescribe you a medicated lotion for shampoo containing either 2% Ketoconazole/1.5%ciclopirox olamine/coal tar/salicylic acid etc.
Your treating doctor might also ask you to apply a Topical steroid lotion on your scalp skin depending on the severity and requirement

take care
