Itching In Vaginal Area For Months. Borderline Diabetic. Cause Of Itching?

I have severe itching in the vaginal area this has been going on for several months. I cannot use feminine deodorants without having severe itching and have to keep myself very clean but I still have much and am red continually and I'm rubbing bumps on myself in that area. What is causing this? I am borderline diabetes. Can this be the reason for my problem and what am I to do as I'm really miserable.

Dear sir/madam

welcome to healthcare magic

Usually if diabetes is uncontrolled or borderline, then you may have repeated infections like what you mentioned. but you need to control blood glucose profiles strictly.
If your itching associated with white discharge then you need to take antibacterial and antifungal both topical and systemic treatment

Thanks

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
This persistent vaginal itching is not a disease in itself but a symptoms arising out of some reason. The causes can include following...
Skin infections like yeast or STD's
Skin infections like eczema,psoriasis etc
Low estrogen levels in menopause or breast feeding
General disorder like uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid problems etc
Sensitisation of vulval skin to soaps, sanitary wears, condoms, detergents, deodorants, fabric conditioner etc.
Ideally you should be examined and investigated by a gynecologist to find the cause because that will determine the exact treatment.
Do the following, till you consult your gynecologist...
Control your diabetes meticulously.
Wash your vulva gently every day and dry it completely before putting on underwear.
Underwear should be loose and 100% cotton
Avoid wearing any underwear in night.
Avoid soaps,detergents etc
Avoid shaving pubic hair
Avoid fabric detergents
Use non perfumed toilet tissue paper and sanitary towels
Use petroleum jelly locally.
Avoid condoms lubricated with spermicide.
I hope it helps
Thanks
