I have recently developed an itch on my shins, mostly left shin. When scratched, carefully, the itch spreads up to my knee and sometimes beyond. This also happens on my left leg but is not as severe. This itching also occurs on my forearms with a very slight rash. I am 73 and have CLL but not to the extent that treatment is required. Only twice yearly blood tests. The WBC count is fairly constant since discovery about 4 years ago as the result of a blood test. 3 months ago I developed an irritation in the area of my perineum . After 2 different ointments and 3 different antibiotics the irritation appears to have cleared up. Incidentally the area surrounding the irritation would weep a clear sticky liquid. I have moderate blood pressure controlled with medication and about 4 years ago had a small skin cancer removed from the end of my nose. I have many moles on my back that have developed in recent years that are ok but I have them checked regularly. Oh, I have taken a small aspirin every day for about 15 years. And my ankles started swelling about 2 months ago. The left ankle more than the right.. I am British male, 6 foot and overweight at 16 stone. I am retired and fairly active. I walk at a moderate pace along the seafront 4 or 5 days a week. Each walk lasts about one hour. Not one of my life s pleasures but at my age it is necessary. I am up and down 5 flights of stairs many times a day. Finally I am an insomniac sleeping for about 3 x 20 minutes per night. Medication does not work so I guess I have to live with it. There are many worse off than me so maybe i am quite lucky but all these ailments come as a bit of a surprise when for many years I never had cause to visit my G P and spent a lot of my time playing various sports. Also I don t overeat according to a true record that has been seen by 2 GPs. Maybe I lied, but what would be the point of that and I m not stupid I think. I don t suppose much of this is relevant to my itch but it might be. I am really sorry to have presented with all this. Naturally my GP is dealing with this but I figured a second opinion might produce some new/different thinking. Phew. Thanks very much for your time David Shell.
