Itching Where Arm Folds, Bumps Which Look Like Liquid After Putting Garlic. What Could Be This?

Hi I have been itching my arm where the arm folds (joint) so my dad decided to put raw garlic crushed up on it, I left it there for 2 hours and I did feel a burning sensation. The next few days my skin is black and there are even bumps on my arm which look like they have some sort of liquid. Can you please explain what is happening

Hi! Thank you for your question and welcome to our site.

It seems like you suffered a chemical burn from garlic. Never leave raw crushed garlic directly on wounds and inflamed areas for prolonged periods of time. Garlic also contains some naturally occurring agents that can cause irritation or burns (such as in your case) with direct and prolonged contact.

I would advise that you see a physician so that your burn can be properly managed. Do not apply anything else on the burned area as it may just cause more damage and scarring. In the meantime, just cover the area with a clean (preferably sterile) gauze to protect it.

Take care!
